Bonely can read the calcium and serving-size text on a nutrition label using the iPhone camera or a photo. You review the recognized values, correct them if needed, and only then save the food.

The scanner is a shortcut for packaged foods, not a promise that every label will be recognized perfectly. The review step is part of the workflow, especially because label layouts, brands, and regions vary.

What you can do

Useful detail without medical overreach

On-device processing

The app uses Apple Vision, VisionKit, AVFoundation, and PhotosUI for the scanner flow. Nutrition-label images are processed on device and are not uploaded as part of normal scanning.

Camera, photo, or manual fallback

Live scanning depends on device support and camera permission. Bonely also supports a photo flow and manual entry when live scanning is unavailable or a label is difficult to read.

Serving-aware logging

The recognized calcium is tied to the serving description, and the app supports quantity changes so the logged amount can match what you actually consumed.
